Résumé: | In mechanical tests, the main focus is to get a clear information about the tested material in order to avoid critical damages or to know characteristics of a new material. Accuracy, comfortability and reliability are relative features which can always be updated. In this project, a 1994 universal testing machine’s controlling system was migrated from solid- state microcomputer to Programmable Logical Controller (PLC), the old servo-motor was also replaced by a HSS86 closed loop hybrid servo-stepper motor. Using Siemens S7- 1200 PLC and LabVIEW a reliable, accurate, user-friendly and up-to-date supervisory software was created. The communication between the hardware and the software was via Ethernet, instead of the old serial communication, this was done using OPC server to create communication channel between the software and the machine. The developed software allows the user to test a material and to generate an Excel report. |
